V-Nova IBC 2024

The new AI Tech Zone of IBC 2024 houses the interesting showcase of V-Nova, a company that, through several demonstrations, explains how its hierarchical data coding technology can accelerate computer vision applications.

Concretely, V-Nova focuses attention on how the use of SMPTE VC-6 can greatly benefit AI object detection and recognition. As part of IBC 2024, attendees can discover how, through this system, a detection speed of up to five times greater, which can make metadata tagging for media workflows much more efficient. The presentation also explains how hierarchical and parallel data structures provide faster and more accurate inference, offer a much faster training for new AI Large Multimodal Models (LLM) and help translate the AI computing at the edge, which is a key enabler for AI applications such as real-time, low-latency GenAI, intelligent edge applications, and robotics, among others.

V-Nova is also taking advantage of its appearance at IBC 2024 to put the focus on the codec MPEG-5 LCEVC (Low Complexity Enhancement Video Coding) with the support of more than 40 companies. This showcase showcases solutions interoperable with LCEVC-enabled encoders, players and consumer devices in a variety of use cases, including LCEVC-enhanced pixel streaming applications, including content co-produced by the newly formed V-Nova Studios in the Lumiere Award-winning 6DoF V-Nova PresenZ cinematic format.

The area, located in pavilion 5, is structured around several key areas: VR/XR y Cloud Gaming, featuring immersive 6 degrees of freedom (6DoF) kinematic demonstrations on the V-Nova pod in collaboration with NVIDIA; broadcasting and pay television, through a range of LCEVC-compatible chipsets, set-top boxes and an LCEVC-compatible Hisense TV that decodes LCEVC 4Kp60 10bit HDR content; social networks, via LCEVC-enhanced applications for scalable multilayer video distribution, and Streaming OTT, by deploying LCEVC in applications for iOS, Apple TV, Android and Web. Additionally, it will be demonstrated how LCEVC can enhance the latest Kyber SDK to optimize cloud gaming.

Guido Meardi, CEO of V-Nova, underlines the importance of MPEG-5 LCVEC for the future of the industry: "V-Nova's commitment to MPEG-5 LCEVC is stronger than ever and we are excited about the continued advances in its adoption in so many high-impact use cases. The LCEVC demonstration at IBC is supported by more than 40 companies, including NVIDIA, Hisense, AMD and many others. Cutting-edge innovation is intrinsic to V-Nova's R&D. V-Nova and our technologies.”

V-Nova has also presented during IBC 2024 the results of its collaboration with Nvidia, realized in the form of an LCEVC transcoding solution powered by NVIDIA NVENC for “ultimate quality” natural video transcoding and low-latency encoding for cloud gaming and pixel streaming.
