Miguel Churruca (Brainstorm): “Our solutions together with the use of robotics open new doors to advanced virtual production”
Miguel Churruca, director of Marketing and Communication at Brainstorm, presents in this video interview at IBC 2024 the Spanish company's proposals for virtual production at the highest level, going through other levels of virtual production, real-time graphics in different formats, or immersive presentations with the Edison ecosystem.
On the occasion of IBC, Berainstorm deployed a real set that had a physical floor next to an Alfalite screen on which a 3D scene created with Unreal Engine 5.4 e Infinity Set achieving effects such as the extension of the infinite set or the teleportation of characters from a green chroma. The demonstration also included robotics from the French XD Motion (with models ARCAM 10 and ARCAM 20) and cameras Canon C300 with wide-angle optics that allowed fluid movements and synchronized the movements of several robotics to create a realistic perspective between physical characters and LED backgrounds. To the synchronize the two ARCAM robots, the camera perspectives were identical, resulting in a very realistic virtual talent integration, with precise perspectives and fluid transitions. The integration uses the FreeD protocol for tracking data and allows direct control of ARCAM systems from InfinitySet, thanks to the XD Motion API.
This demo perfectly combined a chroma background with an LED screen to create a interactive broadcast environment, con talent teleportation, augmented reality graphics (AR), data in context and one large interactive touch screen that the presenter used to control the show. One of the highlights of the presentation was, without a doubt, the actor teleportation between two locations, along with advanced automation and robotics systems in action. This innovative demo provides a glimpse into the future of virtual production and innovation in broadcasting.
It should be noted that InfinitySet acts as a hub of technologies, orchestrating both robotic and virtual cameras, providing an unparalleled level of flexibility and storytelling capabilities to content creators.
Suite 6.1
Brainstorm's suite of solutions returned to IBC, releasing version 6.1 aimed at improving quality in the creation of virtual content. Suite 6.1 stands out for its great integration with Unreal Engine 5.4. Users of solutions Brainstorm can control UE5 from the interface itself InfinitySet, which enhances your capabilities to manage, edit, and control sheets, objects, and UE properties. In addition, the combination of the Unreal Engine render with the rendering engine itself study It is fully transparent, so that the user can effectively decide which objects or parts of the scene should be rendered in which engine.
This capability is reinforced with an improved version of the Unreal Compositor, a tool that simplifies the integration of real video sources (such as embedded characters) within an Unreal Engine scene. The composer combines the features of Unreal Engine with the capabilities TrackFree exclusive to Brainstorm, multiplying the possibilities of each engine.
Edison OnCloud
Brainstorm announced at IBC 2024 the launch of Edison OnCloud, the latest cloud-based presentation software designed to revolutionize the way presentations are created, managed and shared. Edison OnCloud perfectly complements the Edison ecosystem, allowing users to create stunning, professional and immersive presentations from anywhere, anytime.
This modular platform is designed to transform any live or online virtual content creation into a immersive experience through AR and virtual environments. With an intuitive interface, powerful design tools, and seamless real-time collaboration capabilities, Edison OnCloud ensures teams stay connected and productive, regardless of their location.
It is subscription based service offers several plans, from a simple presentation player to a comprehensive creative solution, catering to the diverse needs of users.
Edison OnCloud increases the flexibility of the Edison Ecosystem, building on existing tools such as Custom capture environments and apps like Edison eDesk and EdisonGO. Edison eDesk provides a portable chroma set, workstation, camera and lights, offering a self-sufficient, turnkey solution. The EdisonGO app uses an iPad Pro to deliver video with tracking information, allowing Edison PRO to insert AR objects in context. Users can also benefit from control devices like StreamDeck and free apps like Edison OnDemand, maximizing the possibilities of Edison PRO's powerful tools.
