Brainstorm and XD Motion take virtual production to new heights with the use of intelligent robotics
As is evident in this IBC 2024, the combination of intelligent robotics of XD Motion with advanced virtual production solutions Brainstorm They allow the creation of impressive virtual content.
Thanks to the collaboration between the Spanish Brainstorm and the French XD motion, both companies take the possibilities of virtual production one step further, allowing new levels of precision when it comes to create virtual content, both in XR environments based on LED volumes such as in chroma studios.
At IBC, Brainstorm presents an impressive virtual production demonstration, carried out with its solution InfinitySet in combination with the latest generation XD Motion systems: ARCAM 10 and ARCAM 20, advanced robotic systems designed to perform complex dynamic shots for virtual production workflows; and and IOBOT, a cutting-edge broadcast automation tool that improves operational efficiency and creative control.
This demonstration perfectly combines a chroma background with a large Alfalite LED screen to create an interactive broadcast environment, with talent teleportation, augmented reality (AR) graphics, in-context data and a large interactive touch screen that the presenter will use to control the show. One of the highlights of the presentation is the actor teleportation between two locations, along with advanced automation and robotics systems in action. This innovative demo provides a glimpse into the future of virtual production and innovation in broadcasting.
Al synchronize the two ARCAM robots, the camera perspectives will be identical, resulting in a very realistic virtual talent integration, with precise perspectives and fluid transitions. The integration uses the FreeD protocol for tracking data and allows direct control of ARCAM systems from InfinitySet, thanks to the XD Motion API.
InfinitySet acts as a core of technologies, orchestrating both robotic and virtual cameras, providing an unparalleled level of flexibility and storytelling power to content creators.
Andrew Gordon, commercial director of XD Motion, highlights that "this collaboration with Brainstorm is redefining the future of virtual production. By integrating our advanced robotics and automation systems with its real-time 3D graphics, we offer a complete and fully automated solution that opens up endless creative possibilities. Together, we are allowing broadcasters to expand the limits of what can be achieved, with precision, speed and efficiency at the center of each project.
Hector Viguer, COO and Director of Engineering at Brainstorm, adds that "we are delighted to join forces with XD Motion to offer this new level of integration to content creators. The synergy between our companies has allowed us to quickly develop and demonstrate this innovative solution, opening the doors to highly precise and advanced virtual production."
Edison OnCloud
Brainstorm has announced at IBC 2024 the launch of Edison OnCloud, the latest cloud-based presentation software designed to revolutionize the way presentations are created, managed and shared. Edison OnCloud perfectly complements the Edison ecosystem, allowing users to create stunning, professional and immersive presentations from anywhere, anytime.
This modular platform is designed to transform any live or online virtual content creation into a immersive experience through AR and virtual environments. With an intuitive interface, powerful design tools, and seamless real-time collaboration capabilities, Edison OnCloud ensures teams stay connected and productive, regardless of their location.
It is subscription based service offers several plans, from a simple presentation player to a comprehensive creative solution, catering to the diverse needs of users.
Edison OnCloud increases the flexibility of the Edison Ecosystem, building on existing tools such as eCustom capture environments and apps like Edison eDesk and EdisonGO. Edison eDesk provides a portable chroma set, workstation, camera and lights, offering a self-sufficient, turnkey solution. The EdisonGO app uses an iPad Pro to deliver video with tracking information, allowing Edison PRO to insert AR objects in context. Users can also benefit from control devices like StreamDeck and free apps like Edison OnDemand, maximizing the possibilities of Edison PRO's powerful tools.
