HuskerVision: live sports broadcasts with IP audio and Lawo solutions
Audio solutions from Theirs have allowed HuskerVision, responsible for the audiovisual productions of the University of Nebraska sports teams, experience “unprecedented” efficiency and flexibility in their workflows.
HuskerVision, located in the Michael Grace production studio, oversees all production needs. audiovisual production and of broadcast of sporting events from the University of Nebraska. With a team of thirty to fifty university students, the production company annually broadcasts more than 100 tv shows, providing national exposure to University of Nebraska athletes.
Garrett Hill, broadcast and systems engineer at HuskerVision, has been working with a team of Theirs after the renovation undertaken at the end of 2023. "We are very happy with its performance and the audio quality we are obtaining from it. Our environment includes a management platform HOME for media infrastructures, two audio engines A__UHD Core configured as primary backup pair, two Power Cores with a Dante card in each to integrate the existing equipment, a handful of A__stage64 and A__digital stageboxes, and two mc²56 audio production consoles,” he transfers.
Beyond celebrating the solvency and resilience of the system, Hill is especially pleased with the IP audio stream management between third-party equipment from Lawo, which has improved its operational efficiencies and has simplified the device management: “It has been our first experience with IP-based audio that closely resembles IP-based environments. ST 2110. Our broadcast facility is still purely baseband for video, but audio is now a hybrid of IP and baseband. With state-of-the-art equipment we have significantly raised our audio quality and streamlined our workflow. Using HOME, managing these device streams from Q-Sys and Dante equipment directly facilitates multiple simultaneous events and diverse audio routing needs.”
