Sennheiser - The High Performance

The EW-DP, MK 4 and MKE series microphones Sennheiser They allow you to learn with high-quality audio the stories of some of the most outstanding athletes on the planet in the podcast 'The High Performance'.

Driven by Jake Humphrey y Damian Hughes, the podcast The High Performance Its objective is to convert the experiences lived by the planet's high-performance athletes into valuable life lessons. Over the past four years, Humphrey and Hughes have interviewed more than 250 guests, including athletes, authors, artists and industry experts, to discover the secrets behind their success. With guests including Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson, climber Alex Honnold, Formula One engineer Adrian Newey and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, the podcast relies on audio equipment from Sennheiser to capture their stories as faithfully as possible.

Sennheiser - The High PerformanceFind Ryan, head of audio for the podcast, sought to create an atmosphere where guests felt comfortable, as if they were chatting at home, rather than in a studio: “This led us to experiment with different setups, and that's when I met Stephen Button (UK and Nordic business marketing director for Pro Audio at Sennheiser) at Tileyard London last year, where we were recording at the time.” After that meeting, Button introduced Ryan to Sennheiser's business development manager, Lee Shuttlewood, who was instrumental in demonstrating several Sennheiser solutions that could be used to studio recordings, including wireless series Evolution. As Ryan points out, “That's when we got hooked, as we knew they were a good fit.”

Earlier this year, after moving into his new studio in Oxford Circus, in central London, the team initially rented audio equipment Sennheiser from several companies, including Hand Held Audio. However, they soon looked for a permanent solution that was reliable and easy to use: “The G3 system we were using was excellent, but the latest EW-DP It has made our workflow much easier. The great thing about EW-DP is that while 80 percent of our interviews take place in the studio, if we need to record on location, it's very easy to pack three receiver boxes, three transmitters, and a handful of AA batteries. It's comforting to know we have everything we need in one bag.”

Sennheiser - The High PerformanceSince he is not an expert in frequency management, Ryan trusts the app Smart Assist from Sennheiser, which automatically establishes stable wireless connections: "I run auto-scan every time we record. The app finds available frequencies and syncs both devices. As we are located in central London, finding available frequencies can be tricky, so the Smart Assist app is a lifesaver. Plus, I can monitor everything, including battery levels, from my phone, even when the device is in a different room."

In addition to using EW-DP, Ryan is excited about the addition of the series' shotgun microphones WIFE Sennheiser and cardioid condenser microphones MK 4 to your setup: “We're looking forward to using the MKE series to capture focused audio, and the MK 4 microphones will be perfect for recording introductions with both presenters, where we typically switch from lapel mics to something with a large diaphragm.”
