The station launches a new digital service, which starts with 65 of its best programs and sections, with the aim of leading the growing Spanish-language audio market.

The SER Chain continues to bet on the digital environment with the launch of BE Podcast, which will feature the station's most original, recognizable and essential podcasts.

With SER Podcast, the station will add to the strength of its live broadcasts a wide range of podcast content in Spanish, with a careful selection of its main programs and their sections, with the most prominent voices on the audio scene in Spain. Users will be able to consume their content both from the SER app and its website and from the main podcast platforms on the market: Spotify, Apple Podcast, iVoox, Google Podcast, and also through YouTube.

Daniel GavelaThe general director of the SER, Daniel Gavela, stated in the presentation of the new service that "audio is our past, it is our present and it will be our future. And it will be in all its manifestations. For us, it is a special day and I want to think that it will also be for listeners starting tomorrow. The SER is preparing to take a decisive step in the process of digital transformation, both in the offer of content and in the implementation of new production, distribution and marketing processes. It is true that digitalization is a process that the SER has been promoting for a long time, as demonstrated the fact that podcast consumption has increased by 84% in 2020, reaching 15 million views per month and 171 million in the year. But today, finally, we can launch SER Podcast, almost a year later than expected, due to the circumstances that arose as a result of the pandemic, where the demand for information and attention to the antenna was overwhelmed, with an ERTE in between.

“We are confident that if we succeed in mobilizing all the talent available in this great content factory that is the SER, and to the extent that we have the appropriate resources, it is within our reach to lead the podcast market in Spanish, in the same way we do it in the radio,” he added.

Gavela has been convinced that "we are facing the greatest opportunity offered to radio in decades, because the technical barriers and the selection of content that general radio must adhere to disappear to build a successful offer, and be able to satisfy large audiences. We are facing the best of opportunities because to the strength and leadership of its live radio, SER is going to add from tomorrow the best offer of podcast content in Spanish. Not only will we reach, starting tomorrow, the 4.3 million daily listeners and the 7 million regular listeners who connect with SER, we will go further and deeper with “precision audio”, tailored to the consumer's taste.”

For its part, Luis Rodríguez Pi, director of antenna and programs at SER and SER Podcast, who leads the new project, explained that "it is a project that, like all digital businesses, basically aims to put the listener at the center of the decision. When we have had the previous debates when preparing this proposal we have always said how it is going to be consumed by the listener. Therefore, it has been, is and will always be in the fundamental decision of how we are going to project, what we are going to project, where we are going to project it or where we are going to publish, for whom, who is that listener?

"We are also going to address the occasional listeners who reach up to 7 million daily, people who enter the SER but do not do so the next day. Therefore, they are also very important for us, but we are also going to address the people who do not listen to the SER or who do not listen to the radio," he assured.

The director of SER Podcast has commented that at the start the new service will have a 65 podcast offer. "It is a short offer, we could have many more but we have opted for what is best for the listener. It is a diverse offer: we will have 11 categories so that the listener always has what they are looking for. In addition, it is a regular offer because there is a commitment from SER and this team to the listener. That is, the episodes will be published exactly at the moment in which it is announced that they are going to be published, so the listener already knows when and where they will be able to consume that product that they want, that they are looking for. And, finally, it is a quality project, a project that will try to bring out the best in what we do. It is the creme de la creme,” he stressed.
