Winners of the 1st Ondas Globales Podcast Awards

Los 1st Ondas Global Podcast Awards They already have winners, among which the best fiction podcast for Case 63 (Spotify, Podcasting Station) and recognition in the non-fiction category for Carrier (Detective, Exile Content) y Gal: the triangle (The cannon shot, The Facto).

The jury's ruling 1st Ondas Global Podcast Awards, made up of experts in the world of audio, communication and advertising creativity, has been revealed in a live broadcast on the program La Ventana, SER Chain. The awards ceremony, organized by PRISA Audio y SER Chain, in collaboration with Spotify, will be held on May 24 at a gala at the Teatro del Soho CaixaBank in Málaga and with the support of the City Council and the Provincial Council of Málaga, as well as the Junta de Andalucía.

The ceremony will host the delivery of 19 figurines, since four of the 15 categories have been considered ex aequo. Five more podcasts have received special mentions from the jury. In addition, those considered as Best Podcast of the Year already chosen in the Traditional Waves Awards last November in Barcelona.

General Category Winners

The winner of the general category best fiction podcast es Case 63. He receives the award "for managing, with humor, to talk about topics that are uncomfortable but important. The tone disarms the interviewees, raising the questions that we all want to ask but that no one dares to ask."

Best branded and experimental podcast

Hotel Jorge Juan, presented by Javier Aznar, wins the award for best branded-podcast. Through leisurely conversation, each episode offers “something to chew on, think about, believe and grow” in an intimate setting. The jury has valued it "for the perfect symbiosis between content and brand that makes it a reference for the creation of other branded podcast proposals. A guest and a conversation that is enjoyed almost as at the bar of a bar." The podcast is produced by Vanity Fair y Yes We Cast next to Seagram’s.

In the same category he has obtained a special mention Are you still there? the podcast of Netflix España to learn and have fun with series and movies. This is the first podcast from a streaming platform not exclusively dedicated to a single title. According to the jury, the proposal presented by Jordi Cruz and Samantha Hudson, "demonstrates that the fictions and content discussed on television go beyond the screens in the form of everyday conversations about topics of general interest."

The best experimental podcast is Solaris. The writer and thinker Jorge Carrión helps the listener understand these new algorithmic, quantum, accelerated times of artificial intelligence, with their own logic and madness. The members of the jury believe that “it is a disruptive project, which has become a benchmark as an innovative narrative format on topics related to technojournalism, digital life and experimentation.” It is produced by Podium Podcast and has the sound design of Andreu Quesada. Best non-Spanish speaking podcast and best international podcast

In the non-Spanish speaking section, the best international podcast es para L’écho du Bataclan (in Spanish, El eco de Bataclán), which addresses the relationship of sound with the massacre of November 13, 2015 at the Parisian nightclub. The jury has awarded the proposal "for recounting an attack that shocked Europe from the point of view of the survivors and their relationship with sound. Best sound design and best script

The award for best sound design goes to fiction The sphere, production of Podium Podcast whose specific work is Teo Rodríguez. The podcast is based on a real premise that is developed throughout the episodes: several American army pilots publish a letter in which they reveal that they have been seeing unidentified flying objects during their maneuvers for years. The jury highlighted “his mastery of surrounding a story with an unmistakable sound universe, full of nuances that lead the listener to live the sound experience in a totally immersive way.”

On the other hand, the best script went to The hitman. The podcast of Telemundo traces, through the statements of a man who spent three months training to be a hitman, the x-ray of one of the most feared criminal groups in Mexico: the Jalisco Nueva Generación cartel. El Sicario has been the winner "for the construction of an impeccable narrative script that arises from exhaustive journalistic investigative work. A Telemundo podcast that brings the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel to the global public with a perspective for all types of audiences."

The jury wanted to make a special mention to Uribe cornered, a work in which journalist Daniel Coronell explains how he managed to link former Colombian president Álvaro Uribe with a crime of witness tampering. What stands out in this script is "the meticulous work of Daniel Coronell, carried out over three years. Uribe cornered is not only the portrait of a controversial public figure, it is also the narration of how each test is reached to construct a meticulous journalistic work." The award for best production goes to Guerra 3, which takes the listener into North Korea and an international conflict. It has won the award “for the impeccable coordination task carried out during the pandemic to produce a final season with more than fifty different characters and more than thirteen different languages.” A fiction of Podium Podcast whose production was in charge of Jesús Blanquiño, David Tomillo and Ana Alonso.

The jury has awarded him "for managing to carve out a niche in sports journalism and standing out by carrying out investigations that he transforms into stories that reach the general public."

Best performances and best episode

In the category of best actor or actress, the jury has decided to award two awards ex aequo to Lolita Flores and Luis Zahera. Los Ondas Global Podcast Awards They seek to give visibility to the podcast industry in Spanish and recognize the work of all its professionals. The 19 best projects have been selected among 888 applications from 15 countries. The jury was made up of a renowned group of experts from the world of audio, communication and advertising creativity from Spain and Latin America.

These awards follow in the wake of the Ondas Awards presented annually by PRISA through Ràdio Barcelona, from Cadena SER, and which held their 68th edition gala on November 16.
