The awards have recognized the work of the information services of radio stations in Catalonia for their coverage of the August attacks. In his opinion, “the work of all the Catalan radio stations during those fateful days constitutes the best example of the capacity for reaction, the rigorous response during many hours of live broadcasts and the radio's vocation for public service.” The good work carried out by the editorial staff of Catalunya Radio, Rac 1, SER Catalunya, RNE, Cope and Onda Cero is the recipient of this collective recognition, which can be extended to all local radio stations that informed their listeners with criteria of immediacy and rigor.
In radio, the jury wanted to have a special mention with the figure of the radio producer, a professional profile that brings together technicians of all levels and program makers. Without a doubt, a figure as essential as it is anonymous in the world of radio. From the other side of the fish tank in the studios, putting together the programs, perfecting the broadcast systems or guaranteeing the most complicated outside coverage, he is today placed in the public spotlight to receive the highest distinction in the world of radio. They guarantee that 23 million people can listen to the radio every day in Spain.
