The Ondas Awards celebrate their 60th Anniversary this year, being the benchmark and a privileged observatory of talent in the Spanish and international audiovisual sector.

This Wednesday the jury's decision for the 60th edition of the Ondas Awards was announced during the press conference that took place at the Toreski Studio of Radio Barcelona-Cadena SER. The Ondas Awards celebrate their 60th Anniversary this year, being the benchmark and a privileged observatory of talent in the Spanish and international audiovisual sector.

Augusto Delkáder, president of PRISA Radio and president of the national television jury, highlighted that "for the PRISA Group, Cadena SER and Radio Barcelona, this is a year of satisfaction for having been rewarding creativity, talent and good work for 60 years." Delkáder has highlighted that Ondas try to adapt to the spectacular changes that audiovisual media have experienced during these six decades and only intend to “reward and praise professionals, their works and their talent.”

Regarding the Ondas Award to Saved For the program dedicated to the Valencia metro accident, Delkáder commented that "a journalistic work like this had to be recognized, which revealed a series of contradictions and concealments that resulted in the reopening of the judicial process."

For his part, José Luís Sainz, CEO of PRISA Radio and president of the national radio jury, highlighted, regarding the award for Radio Galicia-Cadena SER's news coverage of the Alvia train accident in Santiago de Compostela, that once again "the radio's capacity for reaction is evident" which in this specific case "mobilized our local, own and associated stations, and our national communicators on vacation to cover this serious accident." Sainz emphasized that it is “one of the best representations of what radio is today: proximity, immediacy, commitment to suffering and being there from the first hour to the last.”

Finally, Sainz regarding the award to Julio Ruiz, stated that "it is a recognition of a host and a transgressive and innovative program that has been the first to put unknown artists in contact with the audience."

In this edition of the Ondas Awards, the oldest and most prestigious radio and television awards granted in Spain, and which have the official support of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), more than 200 candidates from more than 20 countries around the world were presented.
