The Gang, a feature film by Fasten Films in co-production with Saga Film, tells the story of the journey of three teenagers from the outskirts of Barcelona to a party in the upper area that will make them discover that "it is not easy to escape prejudices and expectations". The film is directed by Carol and Marina Rodríguez Colás, who achieved recognition from critics and audiences when they premiered in the Official Section of the Malaga Film Festival his first feature film, Chicks. Winner of the Audience Award, ASECAN Best First Film Award and the Movistar+ Best Film Award, the film was also nominated for Best New Director at the Goya Awards, Best Comedy at the Feroz Awards 2022 and Best Screenplay according to the Spanish Screenwriters' Union.
The Rodríguez Colás sisters thus transfer the Origin of the project, which will be distributed by Filmax: "We knew we wanted to make this film by continuing to observe our neighborhood and seeing how new generations, who share daily life with neighbors and lifelong businesses, come up against the same conditions of subordination as always, but without the class shame of our generation: they are proud of their origins and are not so afraid to show their desires and frustrations."
The Gang is a production of Fasten Films in co-production with Film Saga and with the participation of Movistar Plus+. It has the support of the ICAA Institute, the ICEC, Creative Europe Media, the Ibermedia Programme and the City Council of l'Hospitalet. Also participating in the co-production are Proximus, VOO, Be TV and Orange Belgium, with the associated production of Gabriel Kaplan and Muy Buena Films.
This is the synopsis from the feature film: "Ayman, a teenager of Moroccan origin, is invited by Sara, of Catalan origin, to her 16th birthday party in the same house where Ayman's mother works as a maid. Accompanied by Eric and Rober, his lifelong friends, they will begin a journey full of confrontations and disappointments both with society and with themselves, putting their friendship to the test. Once at the party, they will discover that life is not as they thought and that definitely, wanting is not always possible, but that they will always be able to have their friends as travel companions."
