Filming begins on 'Cerdita', a rural thriller promoted by Morena Films

Morena Films, Backup Studio and Cerdita AIE, among other production companies, will shape Little pig, a “rural thriller” genre film with Carlota Pereda at the helm of direction in what is her first feature film.

The film is inspired by short homonymous which earned him national and international awards, among which are the Goya Awards y José María Forqué al Best Fiction Short Film, or the prestigious Slamdance Russo Brothers Fellowship.

This rural thriller is produced by Morena Films in co-production with Backup Studio y Cerdita AIE. The film comes in association with The Postal Bank e Indiefilms; has the participation of RTVE y Movistar+; and the support of Eurimages, Creative Europe – MEDIA Programme of the European Union, and the Community of Madrid. With Merry Colomer in executive production, Little pig will be filmed in Villanueva de la Vera and surroundings (Extremadura) from June 17 until the end of July.

Top-notch cast

little pig, which will be distributed in Spain by Filmax, will have a cast headed by Laura Gallant, who was the protagonist of the original short film and who has participated in films such as Secret Origins o The man who killed Don Quixote. They accompany you Richard Holmes (up to the sky), Carmen Machi (It snows in Benidorm, La Tribu, My big night), Claudia Salas (Elite, The Plague), Irene blacksmith (Shame), Camille Aguilar (lost faggot), José Pastor (Temperance, Acacias 38), Pilar Castro (Official competition, Advantages of traveling by train), Call of the Barco (The plan, Petra) y Adrian Grösser (Merlí, Home).

This is how Pereda describes the production: "I wrote Cerdita to face my fear. A fear that arises from real life. Because being a teenager can be terrifying. Cerdita is Sara's story. I know her, I know who she is, where she comes from and what she's been through. When that happens, you can't move on until you release the story to the world and it stops living in your head and belongs to others. (...) Cerdita is a Spanish rural thriller set in the full sun of the Extremaduran summer. With Calippos, naps, bullfights, festivals, cool ladies and, of course, the fear of “what people will say.”
