Ooona OnStage: a free archive for media localization professionals
The provider of professional management and production tools for media localization, Oona, has launched On Stage, a free-access archive of presentations, research and contributions from those working in this area.
Hosted at Ooona Edu, On Stage is designed to serve as a knowledge-sharing hub for localization professionals. It provides a platform for these experts to showcase their work, including white papers, case studies, industry event presentations, magazine articles and videos, making them accessible to the broader media community.
The inspiration for On Stage came from the conference Languages & The Media, held in Budapest from November 13 to 15, 2024, in which professionals and academics from around the world presented their latest research and analysis of media localization practices.
“There is so much work presented at industry events that deserves to be easier to discover,” he says. Wayne Garb, co-founder and CEO of Ooona, emphasizing the need for greater accessibility to research in the field.
"By making these valuable resources widely available, On Stage will enable professionals, educators, researchers and newcomers to the industry to stay informed and engaged. Sharing knowledge is key to driving the evolution of media localization. With On Stage, we are creating a space where industry professionals can contribute their expertise and help shape the future of the field."
“The media localization sector is undergoing rapid transformation,” he adds. Jorge Díaz-Cintas, Professor of Translation Studies at University College London. “Encouraging collaboration and sharing knowledge has become more important than ever.”
