'Los Domingos', the new film by Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, one of the most recognized Spanish screenwriters and directors (Goya for best direction for 'Cinco lobitos'), begins filming in Bizkaia.

It is a co-production of Buenapinta Media, Encanta Films, Sayaka Productions, Think Studio, Colosé Producciones, Los Desencuentros Film AIE, Le Pacte and Movistar Plus+ with financing from the ICAA.

Sundays introduces us to Ainara, an idealistic and brilliant 17-year-old girl, who has to decide what university degree she will study. Or, at least, that's what his family hopes he will do. However, the young woman states that she feels increasingly closer to God and that she is willing to embrace the life of a cloistered nun. The news catches the entire family by surprise, causing an abyss and a trial by fire for everyone.

The film stars the young Blanca Soroa in the role of Ainara, in her first job as an actress, Patricia López Arnaiz, Miguel Garcés, the Argentine Juan Minujín, Mabel Rivera and Nagore Aramburu.

Ruiz de Azúa states that "years ago I heard this story in the family of some friends: an 18-year-old girl, from a religious family, more socially than spiritually, had decided to enter a cloistered convent. For years I asked myself: Why does an 18-year-old girl become a cloistered nun in today's world? This script arises from that question.

"The film is a story built through two points of view: that of Ainara (played by newcomer Blanca Soroa), who seems to flee from the world, and that of Maite (played by Patricia López Arnaiz), who wants to convince her niece, or herself, that this is worth it. The film raises dilemmas, questions that are difficult to answer. The viewer will have to navigate between these questions and conflicts through the eyes of the two protagonists," he adds.

Marisa F. Armenteros, Manu Calvo, Sandra Hermida and Nahikari Ipiña, producers, highlight that "our commitment to Alauda in her debut film 'Cinco lobitos' allowed us to accompany her on an unforgettable journey, not only because of what the film achieved in awards, critics and the box office, but also because of the bonds of trust and complicity. We are lucky to be able to accompany her in her new film, with a story that captivated us when she presented it to us while it was still an idea. Happy to be accomplices once again in this new adventure that is Sundays“.

Guillermo Farré, director of the Original Cinema and Spanish Cinema area of Movistar Plus+, considers that “After the success of the series To want At Movistar Plus+ we are delighted to be working again with Alauda Ruiz de Azúa in what will be his new feature film. Sundays It has one of the best scripts we have read in a long time and we are sure that it will be a great film, since it comes from one of the greatest talents that Spanish cinema has produced in recent years and is supported by excellent co-production partners in Spain and France.”
