XOS, protagonist of Harmonic's presence at NAB 2025

Harmonic returns one more year to NAB 2025 (April 6 – 9) to promote new AI-based applications and focus on the XOS processor, which simplifies primary distribution and reveals compatibility with Brazil's DTV+ standard.

Looking ahead to NAB 2025, Harmonic is expanding the capabilities of XOS multimedia processor, starting with automatic subtitling. This is the first of a new series of AI-based features, which will allow this local video device to increase its efficiency, improve its accessibility and significantly reduce operating costs by eliminating the need for manual processing.

In this context, Harmonic will present a new XOS device which expands compatibility with distribution applications and reduces the cost of primary distribution for use cases with few channels. This solution edge processing supports a wide range of workflows, from those with a few channels to the most complex systems with a high number of channels. Combined with distribution management system DMS-X from Harmonic, the XOS multimedia processor provides a solution unified and scalable for satellite and IP distribution.

Likewise, the media processor CHARACTERISTIC becomes compatible with the system DTV+ next generation from Brazil thanks to the integration of latest generation video (VVC and LCEVC) and audio (MPEG-H) codecs. This enhancement allows broadcasters in this territory to efficiently distribute video across legacy ISDB-Tb, new DTV+ and OTT networks using a single solution.
