Pilar Gil

The board of directors of HURRY unanimously approves the appointment of Pilar Gil as CEO of PRISA Media for Spain and Latin America. Gil was until now the group's financial director, as well as executive director and vice president of the Board of Directors, the latter positions she will maintain.

With a degree in Economics and Business Sciences from ICADE (E-2) and PDD from IESE, Pilar Gil began her professional career at Chase Manhattan Bank and joined Grupo PRISA in 2000 to carry out its IPO. In July 2022 she was appointed financial director of PRISA, in February 2023 executive director of the company and in June 2023 vice president of the Board. During these last years, it has led three capital increases and a difficult refinancing signed on May 6, which guarantees the financial stability of the company for the next three years.

Given his career at PRISA, Gil has a deep knowledge of the group's businesses that he has contributed to promoting and defending. In addition, since the end of February 2025, she was serving as the top executive of PRISA Media.

The board of directors of PRISA has highlighted "the very high capacity for demand and transformation of a board that knows and respects the needs of the media and has presented an ambitious plan to streamline and improve content production, promote reaching current audiences, attracting new audiences and generating synergies between brands and countries. Furthermore, due to its training and financial performance, it is a guarantee that its clear editorial commitment, from quality and independence, will always go hand in hand with efficiency and profitability."

For his part, Gil emphasizes that his plan "is simple: journalism and entertainment, audiences and advertisers, transformation and commitment. Starting from editorial freedom, which is non-negotiable, we have a very clear objective: to be the global reference for information and entertainment in Spanish for all generations and at a global level. It is urgent to promote the courage and talent of the team, while we strengthen our capacity for innovation and technological resources to anticipate new ways of finding and receiving information. We must lose the fear of experimenting, recover the spirit of the laboratory and, above all, modify some ways of doing things that no longer serve in this context of hyperconnection and overabundance of content.”

Gil has also insisted that "Latin America is now closer to us than ever. We want to highlight all the path we have traveled together and activate synergies and shared learning, reinforcing transversal knowledge."

"We need to simplify the structure and give it agility to live up to what citizens and the market demand of us at all levels. I am very proud to have found within the group the people with the talent and energy that we need," highlighted Pilar Gil.

Structural reorganization

Prisa Media will remain in Spain two business areas: Press; and Radio and Audiovisual Business. At a global level, it will have seven transversal directorates that will promote synergies and shared learning between the press, radio and audiovisual business, as well as between Spain and America.

The until now Prisa Media delegate in Catalonia, Jaume Serra, will be the new general director of Radio and Audiovisual Business for Spain. For his part, Ignacio Soto, until now general director of Cadena SER, will be in charge of coordinating Prisa Media's strategic plan. Soto joined the group in 1999 as director of management control and strategy, and has held different positions in the financial, audiovisual, revenue and radio areas.

Fran Llorente has been appointed Editorial and Content Director of Radio and Audiovisual Business. He was former director of TVE's news services and in 2021 he joined Prisa as director of the Prisa Media Video Area. In this same division, Miriam Hernanz He will be in charge of managing Prisa Vídeo. She was part of the founding team of RTVE Digital and in 2021 she joined Prisa Media, where until now she served as deputy content director at Prisa Video.

In the press area, Vanessa Hernandez, until now General Director of Operations at Prisa Media, will combine this position with the general management of this division. In the transverse divisions, Ana Ormaechea will be general director of Digital Product while Pablo Delgado asumirá la dirección de Tecnología & Data. La dirección general de marketing estará en manos de Oscar Ocaña and finally, Javier Ruiz, until now director of management control and risks at PRISA, will be financial director of PRISA.
