The Generalitat awards Xarxa+ the National Communication Award

The Government of Catalonia distinguishes a Network+, the audiovisual content platform for local television, with the 2024 National Communication Award.

The award, which is part of the new category of Digital Communication, goes to LaXarxa+ for being the first OTT platform for local audiovisual content in Catalan, free and that allows local media to adapt to new digital consumption habits. Xarxa+ was born in February 2023 and has already exceeded 150,000 registered users. The streaming platform brings together more than 30 local television stations and offers a wide catalog of content, mainly related to sports, culture and the country's traditions.

The Minister of Territory, Silvia Paneque, highlighted “the adaptability” of the platform and the possibility “of accessing direct programming from local channels, with a wide catalog of content.” For her part, the CEO of the Xarxa Audiovisual Local (XAL), Nuria de José, has thanked “the effort, involvement and commitment of all the people who have made this recognition possible” and has highlighted the “central and differential role of local media” in the country's communication ecosystem.

The awards will be presented on Friday, July 4 in an event that will take place in Tarragona and that, for the first time, will be held outside of Barcelona.
