ICAA calls for new aid for the production of feature films on the project
The Council of Ministers authorizes the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) to call for general aid for the production of projected feature films corresponding to 2025, for an amount of 55 million euros.
This is a line of advance aid to production companies for the financing of the production cost of feature film projects through the application of objective criteria, which include the economic viability or the socioeconomic impact of the investment in Spain.
The specific objective of this line of aid under a competitive competition regime, which is called through an open call with two selection procedures, is to improve the industrial fabric of film companies that operate in the sector, enabling their strengthening and facilitating the development of their activity in an open and competitive market.
Another objective is promote equality, promoting the incorporation of women into the sector in creative and technical positions. A minimum of 35% of the budget will be allocated for projects carried out exclusively by female directors and a minimum of 10% for animation projects. Furthermore, as a novelty this year, a point is included for the presence of trans people in the project, and a Resolution to rectify the registration mention of sex must be provided.
Among the requirements established in the call, the project must include, as safety measures universal accessibility, special subtitling and audio description in accordance with the applicable technical regulations, which will be accredited at the time of requesting the rating of the film. Feature film projects that are beneficiaries must also include: actions in environmental and sustainability matters and/or a system for measuring environmental impact and carbon footprint.
