DLO produces 'Aquel', the new Netflix series based on the life of Raphael
DLO Productions ('The Gardener', 'Ni una más'), in association with Snail Television, filming of the original series of Netflix 'Aquel', directed by Tito López Amado, Javier Pulido and Beatriz Sanchís, traces the life of Raphael.
Con José Manuel Lorenzo as producer and with Jacobo Martos as associate producer, the script of That has been written by Ignacio del Moral, Paloma Rando and Adrià P. Xancó. Nacho Bolonio, Dago García, Lisette Osorio and José Manuel Lorenzo participate as executive producers.
This new project will allow us to learn more about the life of the famous artist from Linares and will star Javier Morgade (Disco, Ibiza, Locomía, Alma) and Carlos Santos (1992, The Man of a Thousand Faces) in the role of Raphael. Completing the cast are Francesco Carril, Natalia Varela, Pepa Aniorte and Manolo Caro, among others.
That is one 8 episode biographical series which tells the life of Raphael like never before. From his humble origins in post-war Spain to the conquest of the great international stages, the series portrays the unstoppable rise of an unrepeatable artist: his most intimate passions, his greatest successes, his personal conflicts and the ghosts that have accompanied him throughout his life. With settings that range from Madrid to Las Vegas, passing through Moscow, Paris or Acapulco, Aquel is an emotional journey through five decades full of lights and shadows. A moving story that reveals the man behind the myth.
Raphael himself acknowledges being "deeply excited about this project, the result of more than three years of work. It has been intense months of script writing, casting, production design and close collaboration with the directors, together with three exceptional allies: Caracol, Dlo and Netflix. Filming finally began in June and I couldn't be happier with the first results. This biopic not only tells my story; it also reflects a shared history: more than six decades of career marked by unforgettable moments — some very well-known, others more intimate; some luminous, others harsher - but all deeply meaningful. I have told my life without filters, and the scriptwriters have interpreted it with complete freedom. This is not a biopic that idealizes my career, but an honest, unadorned portrait that does not shy away from any aspect, no matter how complicated it may have been. For all this, I believe that Aquel has a special value.
