An IBC 2025 starts that looks more at software every day

IBC 2025 opens from September 12 to 15 in Amsterdam, anticipating the future of an industry that is increasingly moving from hardware-based workflows to dynamic and flexible software-based production. You just have to walk the halls of the RAI Center to realize that this transition is giving way to agile ecosystems that satisfy a distributed, sustainable and scalable production model.

En esta edición participan more than 277 speakers which throughout numerous panels and private sessions will cover key topics such as artificial intelligence, content monetization, sports, streaming platforms and digital transformation.

The organization expects them to attend IBC 2025 around 43,000 visitors from 170 countries. More than 1250 exhibitors and speakers from around the world present the latest innovations these days and will address the hottest trends and issues in the media sector, changing perceptions and meeting the renewed needs of the industry.

The area of exhibition covers 44,000 square meters throughout 14 pavilions. This year, Hall 14 has been expanded to respond to growing demand in key areas of innovation and includes new special features as well as the return of always interesting Accelerator Zone. Building on the success of previous years, the IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Program presents demonstrations of new collaborative projects that offer rapid solutions to real challenges such as generative Artificial Intelligence, ultra-low latency streaming, cloud-native streams or sustainable distribution.

Without a doubt, in this IBC one of the topics that is sparking the most debate is the adoption of cloud native flows, always finding the reserve of those who prefer to opt for a hybrid approach that avoids jumping headlong into the pool of pure IP.

Professionals are betting on automation, orchestration and intelligent process management complex. The future is increasingly emerging with scalable services that allow multimedia applications to be detached from dedicated hardware and that also operate on a basic computing infrastructure. And this trend is evident in a fair that every day is more “soft” and less “hard”.

In addition to the remote collaboration y virtual production (with the consequent relocation of production equipment), visitors are becoming interested in the fast data transfer using multiple wired or wireless network connections such as 5G (private or public) that enable high-speed, low-latency video transmission or unmanaged networks with applications such as backup connectivity or GCCG (ground-to-cloud-cloud-to-ground) transport.

Finally, in the age of AI, concern about the authenticity of the contents. Initiatives such as 2PA (Coalition for the Origin and Authenticity of Content) are strong when it comes to tracking the authenticity of content that, far from only coming from professional film or television cameras, can come from any mobile phone or, what's more, from the brain of a virtual entity... intelligent?
