After the success of the 2023 graduation project, A Taste of Friendship, the first production by the Academy's students to use a volumen LED, ROE Visual has been designated to supply a permanent environment composed of the combination of the LED Ruby RB2.6 de ROE Visual with processing tools Megapixel. This study will allow students to introduce visual effects on camera in real time and have capabilities of immersive production.
By providing students with early access to this technology, the Netherlands Film Academy has set out to “close the gap between education and professional practice.” The set will be fully integrated into the Academy's educational program and will be linked to ROE Visual's growing network of film schools across Europe. Its inauguration is scheduled for end of September 2025.
Marijn Eken, professor of visual effects at the Netherlands Film Academy, considers that with the installation of this LED volume, students will be able to “experiment and develop skills that will prepare them to work professionally from day one.” On the part of ROE Visual, Olaf Sparrowhawk, director of virtual production, XR and broadcast for EMEA, emphasizes that this type of installation allows schools to anticipate the “great demand for professionals” trained in the area of virtual production. “That is why it is so valuable to collaborate with an academy that not only understands the importance of technological innovation, but actively integrates it into its curriculum,” he explained.
