RTVE Play leads the ranking of Spanish free OTT platforms
The first FAST barometer of GECA situate a RTVE Play at the top of the ranking of free OTT video on demand services, only surpassed in the Spanish online field by a proposal with a differentiated approach: YouTube.
The barometer details that RTVE Play It surpasses the next platform in a platform by more than fifteen points in penetration. open television and to others free advertising-supported platforms (AVOD) as Pluto. In addition, it is placed in second place in the ranking of user preferences, with 15%, surpassed again only by Youtube.
The study, which is a pioneer in the analysis of the free platform sector in Spain, has a sample of 1,000 individuals and also reveals the preferences in the consumption of live digital channels (FAST), where the RTVE Play offer reigns, taking the first five positions with three free-to-air linear channels (La 1, 24 Hours and Teledeporte) and two digital exclusives (RTVE The Revolt y RTVE We are Cinema).
In percentage of use, 71.30% of the sample enjoys YouTube, followed by RTVE Play with 53.40%. It is followed by proposals such as Atresplayer (37,1%), Pluto TV (35,5%), DAZN (26,5%), Rakuten TV Free (22,5%), Samsung TV Plus (21,1%), Twitch (19,1%) o Mediaset Infinity (14,1%).
The barometer reveals that users especially value the content exclusivity present on the platform and who access it thanks mainly to promotion on television and having the application pre-installed on their Smart TVs. The study coincides with the good monthly platform data, which exceeded 10.3 million unique users in September and achieved the record number for a month of September 24 million hours consumed.
