The Xunta will support the pre-production of 14 Galician films and series with 300,000 euros

The resolution of the granting of the annual call for subsidies for the development of audiovisual projects, an initiative of the get together which awards €300,000 in aid to 14 Galician audiovisual works.

With this investment, the Galician Government contributes to the pre-production phase of the next titles of 12 Galician production companies, among which are seven fiction feature films, one animation, five documentaries and a television series. The amounts awarded will be used for tasks prior to the filming of the subsidized titles, such as script writing, consultancy, financing, sales and distribution, rights management, research or preparation of promotional materials, among others.

These subsidies for the development of audiovisual projects are structured in different modalities. In category A for future feature films of fiction, there are three proposals that also obtained a grant for screenwriting: lamprey, by Gaitafilmes directed by Ángeles Huerta; The candle and the trough, produced by Jacobo García Fernández and directed by Jacobo Lagüela Castro, and A girl who wanted to be Fred Astaire, from Cósmica Produciones and with Olga Osorio in the script and direction. The other four titles that receive aid in this modality are Adarna, by Matriuska Producciones with Lois Patiño in the direction and script; at blue hour, from Frida Films and Eloy Domínguez as director; Hands, by Septima S. Coop. Gallega with Ángel Filgueira in the direction, and Harmony, by Cristela Torres Nine and directed by Rosalía Quiroga.

Sandwich Cat, by Zeitun Films, is the project selected in the animation mode B and it will be David Fidalgo's debut as a feature film director. In the category C for documentary film features, were beneficiaries The land of the widows of the living, from Cósmica Producións and with the Portuguese Melanie Pereira at the helm; What is a mountain?, by Filmika Galaika and which will be Fran Casal's first feature film as a director; A borrowed pel, by Meteorica Cine with Alba Prol as director; Weed, from Zeitun Films, The time curve, from Somadrome Films and directed by Ruth Chao. Finally, in the D mode for series, receive CTV help for Password, with Lucía Estévez in the direction.

For the granting of these subsidies, under a competitive competition, aspects related to the promotion of new talent and equality in the field of Galician creation, new authorship, the solvency of the production company or the impact of the project on the Galician audiovisual sector were evaluated. They also took into account the originality of the proposal, its quality and the track record of the proposed team.
