Amazon intends to produce series and movies in 4K in 2014

Roy Price, director of Amazon Studios, has confirmed his commitment to HD Ultra 4K and the future of this technology.

Amazon Studios, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, intends to produce both original series and films in Ultra High Definition 4K next year.

4K technology works with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (8.3 million pixels), representing four times the number of pixels of the HD standard.

With 4K technology, users can watch movies and series with unprecedented image clarity with high realism.

Roy Price, director of Amazon Studios, has confirmed his commitment to HD Ultra 4K and the future of this technology. For now, it has made five pilots available to its clients so that users can see, comment and determine which projects will finally be carried out in HD.

Amazon pilots include The Afterby Emmy-winning Chris Carter (X-Files); Bosch, based on the Harry Bosch novels by Michael Connelly; Mozart in the Jungle, by Roman Coppola (The Darjeeing Limited); Jason Schwartzman (Moonrise Kingdon, Rushmore) y Alex Timber (Peter and the Starcatcher); The Rebels by Kevin Iwashina, Jeremy Garelick, Constance Schwartz, Matt Alvarez and Michael Strahan; and Transparent de Jill Soloway (Six Feet Under), Emmy winner. Selected pilots will become series in 4K.

Coinciding with this announcement, Amazon has launched a Ultra High Definition Guide, where users can find information about the differences between 4K and HD TV, resolution comparison charts, factors that hinder image quality, and a dictionary of terms. Users will also be able to find a selection of the latest television models and 4K Blu-Ray.
