After the African Cup of Nations concluded last weekend in Angola, Mediapro has announced that it will once again produce the international signal for the next two editions. On this occasion, the Spanish group has been responsible for the creation, production, graphics, statistics, and transmission of the international signal with a large deployment of media and high definition technology.

The African Cup of Nations, which closed last weekend in Angola, has been described by its organisers, CAF and FIFA, as the best of all time and “an example to follow for the future”. Part of this success has a Spanish seal, since Mediapro has been in charge of the realization, production, graphics, statistics, and transmission of the international signal with a large deployment of media and high definition technology.

A team of more than 150 professionals, including producers, filmmakers, camera operators and EVS technicians, have worked at the headquarters in Luanda, Cabinda, Benguela and Lubango. They have carried out all the matches, held between January 10 and 31, transported the signal from all the stadiums, generated the official graphics and statistics, and made customizations for multiple television networks. Furthermore, for the first time the African Cup has been produced and broadcast in high definition, and with virtual graphics with standards much higher than those used on the African continent for this type of events.

The technical equipment sent to Angola has been similar to that of the football World Cups with four technical controls in HD, four mobile units in flight cases, sixty-eight cameras (of which 12 are super slow) and two steadicams. Each match had seventeen HD cameras, fourteen of them fixed, two slow motion and one traveling shot. During the final, in which Egypt won on Sunday over Ghana, four regiments of twenty-four cameras were used, including super slow, steadicams, track cam, omni cam, mini cam and jimmy jib crane.

Spectators from Africa, Asia, South America and Europe have been able to follow this event through numerous television channels, including some such as Al Jazeera Sports, BBC, Canal Horizons, Orange Sports, RTP Portugal, TDA Algeria and TPA, the public television of Angola.
Once the 2009 edition is over, Mediapro has announced that it will once again hold the 2014 and 2016 African Cup of Nations events.
