Mediapro brings high definition to the African Cup of Nations

The Spanish group Mediapro carries out the audiovisual production of the African Cup of Nations in high definition and with a large operation valued at five million euros. Among other equipment, 4 technical controls in HD, and 4 mobile units in flight cases with 68 cameras, of which 12 are super slow and 2 steadicams, have been moved to Angola.

Thanks to a contract that reaches five million euros, Mediapro has launched a device, made up of more than 150 professionals, for the realization, production and transmission of the international signal of the Africa Cup of Nations that is held in Angola until January 31. The Spanish group is responsible for the creation, production, graphics, statistics, and transmission of the international signal with a large deployment of high-definition media and technology. This will be the first edition of the African Cup to be held, broadcast and broadcast entirely in high definition. Specialized sports channels, such as Al Jazeera Sport and Eurosport, will broadcast the matches in HD, as well as all television channels in African countries in standard definition.

The African Football Confederation (CAF) and the Public TV of Angola (TPA), have trusted in the proven experience of Mediapro, which has worked on previous occasions in the CAN and had already been awarded the execution of the editions of the CAN scheduled for 2014 and 2016.

From Spain and Portugal and by air, 150 Spanish and Portuguese professionals, supported by professionals from the group's production company in Angola, have traveled to Angola, along with all the technical material: 4 technical controls in HD, 4 mobile units in flight cases, 68 cameras, of which 12 are super slow and 2 steadicams. Each match has 17 HD cameras, 14 of them fixed, 2 slow motion and 1 traveling.

Two production teams, led by Juan Figueroa, are in charge of carrying out all the matches. The 32 scheduled matches will be played in Luanda, Cabinda, Benguela and Lubango. Mediapro carries out all the matches of the championship, transports the signal from all the stadiums, generates the official graphics and statistics, and carries out customizations for multiple television networks.
