Miguel Hermoso, Carmen Honorary Award

The V edition of the Carmen de la Awards Andalusian Film Academy (January 31, Granada) will present his honorary award to Miguel Hermoso, veteran director, screenwriter and writer.

Beautiful, after studying Law in Granada and Direction at the Official School of Cinematography in Madrid, founded a producer with which he perfected techniques in advertising cinema, the short film and the documentary. Starting in 1984, he devoted himself primarily to feature films, writing and directing notable films, some as successful as Truhanes, Marbella, like lightning, Fugitives, The prodigious light o Lola, and television series (Tango, Truhanes TV), with which he has achieved numerous awards in different festivals such as the great awards of Moscow, Chicago, Los Angeles and Colón de Oro, in addition to several Goya awards.

In 2020 he retired from the screens to focus on writing intrigue and mystery stories, always with that reference to humor, characteristic of all his works. In 2023 he published his first novel Complicit night, followed by Secrets of a police officer y Passion and time, combining it with his position as audiovisual vice president at the SGAE.

Miguel Hermoso will receive the highest award of the Andalusian Film Academy in the gala of the fifth edition of the Carmen Awards, which Granada will host on January 31. "I have received awards in many places and countries, but this is, honestly, the best recognition, because it breaks with the idea that no one is a prophet in their own land. I feel very happy and deeply grateful to my fellow filmmakers, who are still active and have voted for me. I encourage them to continue, to continue producing Andalusian cinema, because our time is now," commented Hermoso, who has also dedicated praise to the current state of Andalusian cinema: "It is a cinematography with many viewers, with great professionals, excellent directors, actors and scriptwriters of enormous talent. When I started there were few of us, and I was lucky to be one of those who paved the way with films that reached a large audience and won numerous awards. Seeing where we are today is really exciting.”
