Director Arantxa Echevarría will receive the Fugaz Honor Award 2025
ShortSpain, the organization of the Fugaz Awards, recognizes the outstanding work of Arantxa Echevarría in the field of short films, with titles such as 'Don Enrique de Guzmán' (2012), 'De noche y de Pronto' (2014), 'Yo, Presidente' (2015) or El Ultimo Bus' (2016).
The highest-grossing director in the history of Spanish cinema thanks to The Infiltrator (2024), and author of films with great impact among critics and the public such as Carmen and Lola (2018) y Chinas (2023), will receive the Fugaz de Honor Award 2025 in recognition of his career and contribution to the short format. The award will be presented on June 25 at the gala of the ninth edition of the Fugaz Awards, the most relevant awards for Spanish short films, which will be held at Kinépolis Ciudad de la Imagen (Madrid).
Samuel Rodriguez, co-director of CortoEspaña, the organizing entity of the awards, states that "Arantxa Echevarría represents the passion and risk that make cinema great, whether in short or feature films. She has turned short stories into a canvas of emotions and, at the same time, she has shown that her talent can shine brightly in both formats. Her vision has marked a path that many directors now follow, and it is a true pride to be able to honor her with this award."
Although his career has been consolidated in feature films, Echevarría has stated on several occasions that he considers himself, above all, a short filmmaker.
