265 works from 19 Ibero-American countries will aspire for an award in the ninth edition of the Quirino Awards
The closing of the call for the ninth edition of the Quirino Awards It has resulted in a total of 265 registered works from 19 countries, which will aspire to win a trophy on April 17 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
By category, The titles presented are broken down into 19 feature films, 32 series, 103 short films, 60 school short films, 20 video clips, 18 commissioned works and 13 video games, figures that are in line with those recorded last year. Spain, Brazil and Argentina lead the participation with 58, 52 and 42 works, respectively. They are followed by Mexico with 25, Colombia with 20, Chile with 18, Portugal with 16 and Peru with 11. In addition, five works from Uruguay, four from Costa Rica, three from Bolivia, three from Ecuador and two from the Dominican Republic have been presented. Cuba, Honduras, Panama, Paraguay, Puerto Rico and Venezuela complete the list, with one work each.
Regarding the number of titles per country, Brazil increased its participation by 23% compared to last year, Argentina by 19% and Peru by 65%. On the contrary, Spain and Mexico registered decreases of 65% and 40%, respectively. 20% of the works presented are co-productions in which countries outside the region such as the United States, France, Canada, Germany and Italy, among others, also participate.
The calendar of the ninth Quirino Awards

The selection process will conclude March 5, when a jury International will announce the three nominated works in each category. Finally, the April 17 The ceremony will be held in which the jury will announce the winning works.
In addition to recognizing the best works of Ibero-American animation, the Quirino Awards will host a new edition of the Coproduction and Business Forum, which in 2026 expands its activities with an additional day (April 15 to 17). The call will be open from January 13 to February 19 with two registration periods: Early Bird, from January 13 to 27, and Regular from January 28 to February 19. In the last edition, the Forum brought together 200 professionals from 25 countries who held more than 1,400 business meetings. The participation bases and registration costs will be announced soon.
