New injection from the Canarian Government to the audiovisual sector: more than 3 million euros
36 new audiovisual projects, including feature films, series, animation, documentaries and short films from the island, will share the 3,329,000 euros that the Government of the Canary Islands has been destined to continue supporting the audiovisual projection of the archipelago.
The selection has been made through two public calls organized during 2025 by the General Directorate of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries, oriented to projects both in production or minority co-production phase, such as development or production of short films. The projects that will receive grant have been chosen by three expert committees, made up of a wide selection of active professionals in the field of Spanish production.
In Production, they are subsidized nine projects, of a total of thirty-seven presented, which correspond to fiction, animation and documentary films. The production companies will have until 2028 to finalize their proposals, and may receive advance payment in installments. Added to this, for the third consecutive year, is the support for Minority Co-production, which encourages Canarian production companies to benefit from collaborating with large projects promoted by companies from outside the islands. In this category in which they have been selected six projects of a total of ten presented. In the section of Development, they support twelve projects among a total of sixty presented; while in the Short Film Production category nine have been selected out of forty-three submitted.
