RTVE invests in free-to-air football, adding LaLiga and Primera RFEF matches

After broadcasting the Champions League finals in recent years and ensure the broadcast of the 2026 World Cup, RTVE continues to make significant investments in open football after recovering the open match from LaLiga a decade later and close an agreement to broadcast matches of the First RFEF (former 2nd B) on Teledeporte.

Thanks to an agreement with DAZN, RTVE will again broadcast the LaLiga EA Sports. Every day, fans will be able to see telesport the only open match. The offer has started with the beginning of the second round of the competition; specifically, with the broadcast last Friday, January 16, of the Catalan duel between RCD Espanyol-Girona FC. The next two matches for the next few days have also already been confirmed: Levante UD – Elche CF, corresponding to matchday 21, and RCD Mallorca – Sevilla FC, for matchday 22.

RTVE has also confirmed an agreement with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for the broadcast of one match per day during the second round of the championship of the First Federation Versus e-Learning, a category made up of two groups, and which includes a large number of provincial capitals that will see their teams for the first time openly and on RTVE. The broadcast of this category began on Teledeporte on Sunday, January 18, at 6:15 p.m., with the duel between AD Mérida and Real Madrid Castilla.

With the “vocation of public service” and “bequeathing to all the fans of the national territory”, the agreement includes, in addition to the aforementioned match per day, all competition summaries, which will enrich the weekend schedule of Teledeporte and RTVE Play, and will also be offered by the sports blocks of the different territorial centers.
