RTVE wants to become the Hispanic leg of the European cultural channel ARTE

RTVE It expects to close 2025 with an operating result of more than 45 million euros. This economic recovery will make it possible to promote new strategic projects such as the launch of the RTVE cultural channel, scheduled for the end of June, the result of an agreement with ARTE.

In his first appearance of the year before the RTVE parliamentary control commission, Jose Pablo Lopez has announced that, after two financial years in which the Corporation closed its accounts with negative results, the accounts for the 2025 financial year will reflect a operating result of more than 45 million euros, according to the provisional closure. Furthermore, the accounting result (once the properties have been revalued) will be greater than 55 million euros, which will go to RTVE's reserve fund, he explained.

About the launch of the new cultural channel of the Corporation, López has highlighted the good progress of the project, anticipating that it could be on the air at the end of June through the main digital platforms. To advance this project, last week he held a meeting with the director of the ARTE channel in France and vice president of the channel, considering a collaboration so that RTVE becomes ARTE Spain. “We want RTVE to be the Hispanic leg within the European ARTE project,” he highlighted.

The programming will revolve around performing arts and theatre, Spanish cinema, classical music and opera, new musical endeavors and in-house production. “My intention is for RTVE's cultural channel to last,” said the president of RTVE.
