Financing, talent and audiovisual literacy focus EGEDA's participation in Malaga
EGEDA develops within the framework of Malaga Festival different activities focused on audiovisual literacy, access to new financing tools and the promotion of talent within the Platinum Universe ecosystem, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the audiovisual sector in Spanish and consolidating its presence within MAFIZ, the audiovisual market of the event.
Enrique Cerezo, president of EGEDA, considers that "for EGEDA it is always a huge satisfaction to be present at this event because we deeply believe in talent, in the capacity of our audiovisual production and, above all, in the people who make it possible. Cerezo also underlines EGEDA's vocation to be "a real and close ally of the producer, a useful tool that helps professionalize and strengthen our projects inside and outside our borders."
In this edition, the director of the festival, Juan Antonio Vigar, presented Enrique Cerezo with a Biznaga, the festival's flagship trophy, for being "one of the people who has worked the hardest to recover the film heritage of this country."
In this context, Enrique Cerezo highlighted the growth of the Platinum Universe, an ecosystem of initiatives that encompasses training, employment, promotion and internationalization. Among them, Platino Educa stood out, an audiovisual literacy platform aimed at educational centers; PLATINUM Employment, the largest pool of audiovisual talent in Spanish; the Platino Training initiatives, with immersion programs in international markets such as AFM or Content Americas; and major industry events such as the Forqué Awards and the PLATINO Awards, whose next edition will be held on May 9 in Xcaret, Riviera Maya (Mexico).
One of the central axes of EGEDA's participation in the festival has been the New financial instruments to strengthen your audiovisual project, held in La Villa del Mar within the MAFIZ program and presented by Canal Sur journalist Manuel Martínez. The meeting brought together representatives from EGEDA, CREA SGR and SEGO Creative, along with producers and sector specialists, to analyze new financial tools and investment avenues aimed at promoting audiovisual production.
The day, which began with the intervention of Jesus Prieto, director of CREA SGR, presented the role this Reciprocal Guarantee Society has played for two decades in facilitating access to credit for audiovisual companies in a conversation with the producer José Antonio Hergueta, founder of MLK Producciones, in which they addressed the importance of having specialized financial tools that allow production companies to develop their projects with greater stability.Likewise, Rafael Sanchez, director of Institutional Relations and Communication at EGEDA and director of Platino Crowdfunding, presented this crowdfunding platform dedicated to audiovisuals that has already reached close to half a million euros contributed by more than 6,700 contributors.
During this part of the day, professionals linked to the audiovisual crowdfunding ecosystem also participated, such as Anna Saura, founder of the production company Donya Tecla; Angel Gonzalez, Head of Crowdants; and the director, producer and screenwriter Sonia Bautista, who shared experiences on the development and financing of projects through collective participation models. The day continued with the presentation of SEGO Creative, a tool designed to connect audiovisual projects with private investment from large funds. Your director, Patricia Lopez, explained how this initiative works and its potential to expand the sources of financing available to the sector, in conversation with producer José Antonio Hergueta.
The meeting also included interventions dedicated to other initiatives of the Platinum Universe. Octavio Dapena, director of Platino Educa, presented the development and expansion of Platino Educa, while Rafael Sánchez explained the role of Platino Empleo as a reference platform to connect professionals and companies in the audiovisual sector.
Audiovisual literacy
Audiovisual literacy also had a prominent place in the festival's programming with the celebration of the First Andalusian School Shorts Exhibition of Platinum Educa, held at the Echegaray Theater in Malaga.
The meeting highlighted the creative talent of Andalusian students and teachers and their involvement in the audiovisual literacy program promoted by Platino Educa, whose objective is to provide students and teachers with tools to analyze, interpret and create audiovisual content with critical thinking and digital responsibility.
During the exhibition, several award-winning or finalist short films from the 1st Platino Educa National School Short Film Contest were screened, including Rihla: the journey, from the CEIP Santos Médicos de Cortes de Baza (Granada); A chocolate cookie, from IES Benalmádena (Málaga); without skin, from the “Luis del Río” Professional Dance Conservatory of Córdoba; and Reel, from the IES Veleta in Granada.
The event was attended by students and teachers from educational centers, as well as institutional representatives and representatives from the educational and cultural sphere, including the Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training, the School Council of Andalusia, Juan Antonio Vigar, and the director of PLATINO Educa, Octavio Dapena. The day also included artistic performances by different Andalusian artistic teaching centers, reinforcing the link between education, culture and audiovisual creation.
