Toboggan joins the acoustic revolution of Insul-Quilt, the Hollywood standard that arrives in Spain with Mas Acoustics Pro

After landing in Spain in the studios of some of Atresmedia's most important productions, the acoustic solution of Insul-Quilt (distributed in EMEA by Mas Acoustics) equips the new sets of Toboggan Studios in Villaverde, opening the door to a necessary change in the Spanish industry.

Atresmedia has been the first step, but now those solutions have reached one of the most prominent production services companies in Spain: Toboggan Studios.

Specifically, Insul-Quilt acoustic conditioning has been installed on the five sets of Toboggan Group of your new hub de Villaverde: a 9,000 square meter facility with 14 meters of free height prepared to serve both the local industry and the largest international agents that target Spain as a filming destination.

Insul-Quilt: a standard that was born in 1964

Six decades of experience, more than 1,000 conditioned studios and a prolonged presence in Warner Bros., Universal, Paramount o Columbia define the history of Insul-Quilt. With a high presence in the main studios in the United States and the United Kingdom, its acoustic blankets have made it possible to accompany the history of cinema itself by combining professional insulation and comprehensive acoustic treatment in the same product.

The arrival of Insul-Quilt at Toboggan Studios

Juan Pedro Rodríguez, CEO of Toboggan, was in the process of defining his new center in Villaverde: a gigantic structure of more than 30,000 square meters with offices, pre-assembly spaces, warehouses, carpentry, dressing rooms, makeup, hairdressing, dining room, kitchen, private parking and five great studies.

Each technical key was studied in detail. The sets had to offer “unprecedented” versatility in the Spanish audiovisual ecosystem, serving as the most recent letter of introduction for a company that already manages 18 production studios in the Community of Madrid. The acoustics were not going to be an exception.

The location, in the Villaverde district and far from large highways and airport infrastructure, anticipated good news in this area. However, it was necessary to ensure at all levels clear acoustics for productions.

Quick installation and immediate performance

The Mas Acoustics team worked at all times together with the Toboggan Group project management to understand the specific needs of the project. After analyzing limitations and opportunities, there was a green light: the Insul-Quilt Platinum Blanket-Foil blankets to cover the walls of the sets, while for the ceiling they opted for Stratocell Whisper, forming grids of 120 x 120 x 5 cm distributed evenly.

After Atresmedia, Toboggan and some post-production rooms for companies of the stature of Netflix, the Mas Acoustics team continues working to bring Insul-Quilt to all types of broadcasters, companies and production infrastructures. "I see it very closely. The films in Spain are extremely good in terms of technical quality, but the sound could be considerably improved. This does not depend on the professionals, but on the noise levels, reverberation and intelligibility in the studio.
