TvTel brings remote production to the Chilean soccer league with Nevion Virtuoso
The HEVC codec developed by Sony stands as the axis of the remote production flow of TVTel, a provider that covers the Chilean soccer league taking advantage of the Virtuoso software-defined multimedia node from Nevion to TNT Sports.
From the moment in which TvTel The contract was awarded to provide production services to TNT Sports (subsidiary of Warner Bros Discovery), started a process to update your production infrastructure with the aim of being able to broadcast up to 480 football matches a year, from 32 stadiums, using 8 small mobile units; all this, with the highest quality. Specifically, I needed a solution WAN that managed both the remote production as contribution, that is, the media transport, relay control and coordination.
After studying the market, the company decided to implement the multimedia node Virtuoso in each of its mobile units and at its headquarters in Santiago de Chile. The solution, a key component of the offer Networked Live de Sony, is used to transport up to 16 video signals from stadiums to central facilities, and even 4 return signals. The configuration, which also includes 48 HDC-3100 and HDC-5500 cameras, is controlled by Nevion VideoIPath, which provides both the coordination and control of the emission.
Gonzalo Jara, director of technology and operations at TvTel, highlights the performance of Nevion's solution: "Like most organizations dedicated to broadcasting top-level live sports, we need superior image quality, low latency and the lowest possible bandwidth usage. Virtuoso's HEVC functionality offers an excellent combination of all of this."
Steve Hard, product manager at Virtuoso in Nevion, celebrates the success of the project: "It has been exciting to participate in such an outstanding and critical project. This is also special for us, since it is the first implementation of the new HEVC codec in Latin America."
