ARRI Hi-5 Handheld Units Improve Interoperability with Small HD Monitors
The monitors SmallHD running the PageOS6 platform can now display key data such as focus, iris or lens with custom layouts on Hi-5 and Hi-5 SX handheld units. ARRI through a new license.
The collaboration between both companies has allowed ARRI develop Lens data overlays for the Hi-5 that integrate with the framework API Add-On de SmallHD, combining the user experience of handheld units with the monitoring platform PageOS 6. Like other licenses that expand the functionality and third-party compatibility of the Hi-5 and Hi-5 SX, the new license SmallHD Monitor Overlay is available in the online license store from ARRI.
With this addition, Hi-5 users can see scales of focus, iris values, focal length, FocusBug CineRT data and lens information on a compatible SmallHD monitor by connecting to it via USB-C or connector Hi-5 4-pin SERIAL. Overlays offer adjustable opacity, positioning and size; on/off visibility control; settings that are maintained after a power outage; light and dark overlay themes, and up to three individually customizable pages with saveable layouts. Touch monitors allow you to drag and drop overlay elements to any position on the screen.
This expanded compatibility reaches monitors Cine 5, Cine 7, Cine 13, Ultra 5, Ultra 7, Ultra 10, 703 Ultrabright y 1303 HDR de Small HD. Christine Ajayi-Scheuring, ARRI Camera Accessories Product Manager, notes that the new overlays “reflect ARRI’s continued commitment to providing solutions that improve on-set workflows”: “We are pleased to have collaborated with SmallHD on the implementation of these overlays, which were requested by the Hi-5 community and make ARRI handheld units even more versatile.”
