Canon, actively seeking partners to shape its XR pocket device

AWE (Augmented World Expo) USA 2026, one of the key events dedicated to special computing and extended reality technologies, hosts the presentation of the Mreal Collaborator software and a “pocket mixed reality (MR) device”, solutions for Canon that aspire to offer new experiences in all types of verticals.

Canon arrives at the appointment, which takes place on June 15 to 18 in Long Beach, California, with a conceptual model by one pocket-sized mixed reality (MR) device, “highly portable and lightweight.” Despite being “ultracompact”, the company explains, the device offers a high definition visual performance and is planned to be fully compatible with extended reality (XR) applications.

Being a conceptual model currently under development and not yet available for purchase, Canon actively search co-creation partners across a wide range of sectors at AWE to explore creating “new value by leveraging this technology”. In it field of innovations, and leveraging its strengths in optical technology, Canon has developed a high efficiency waveguide prototype to AR glasses which is also being exhibited at the fair.

In the area of manufacturing, Canon takes advantage of the appointment to introduce Mreal Collaborator, and xr software which, thanks to an intuitive user interface, allows users without specialized knowledge in 3DCG manage different systems and manipulate spatial data with ease. The solution meets the standard OpenXR, allowing real-time and seamless 3DCG data sharing between different compatible XR devices and remote locations.

By reducing the barriers of specific hardware and physical distance, this software seeks to foster “fluid communication” and “reinforce collaboration.” To accelerate its widespread adoption in the US market, Canon is introducing a free trial version of the software during the event.
