Filming of 'My Neighbor Fermín' begins

The first feature-length fiction film by directors and screenwriters Vladimir Ráez and Fali Álvarez, 'My Neighbor Fermín', begins filming with Karra Elejalde as the protagonist and production of Plano Subjetivo, Spal Films and Guepaki Mexico.

My neighbor Fermin is a realistic drama that portrays a generational clash with a social background inspired by the tone of great references of intergenerational cinema such as Gran Torino, Nebraska o Untouchable. It is an x-ray of today's society accelerated by the digital emergence of the last decade, which often leaves our elders on the sidelines.

In the words of its directors, with this film we want to give visibility to our elders, Internet scams, the use made of our data, and above all, the insurmountable generational clash. The excuse for this is the meeting and relationship between Fermín, accustomed to an analog life, and Alexander who lives the world through screens. Two lonely and misunderstood characters, who in their disagreement will find mutual learning and a sincere friendship. History will teach us positive and negative aspects of technology, but above all it will highlight the values of an analog generation in extinction to which we owe so much.

Behind the scenes, the filmmakers Vladimir Ráez and Fali Álvarez They co-wrote the script with Ceres Machado. The technical team has professionals of the caliber of Álvaro de Armiñán as assistant director, Elisa Moreno in photography direction, Sebastian Lampietro in art direction, Sonia Vega in charge of production management and composer Elena Cordoba. The film has the collaboration of Canal Sur Televisión and the participation of the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions (Junta de Andalucía). Maravillas Cinematographic Distributions will be the distributor of the film in movie theaters.

In the film, Fermín is a cantankerous and lonely old man, totally disconnected from digital advancement. Overcome by remorse and nostalgia, he wants to find his daughter, whom he has not seen for forty years. To achieve this, he asks his neighbor Alexander, a lonely and unmotivated young computer scientist, for help. When Fermín starts surfing the internet, he is the victim of a scam. Fermín proposes to Alexander that he help him find the scammer. What begins as an impossible quest becomes a confrontation with their own insecurities and prejudices on a journey of mutual discovery.
