HXR-NX100, the latest addition to Sony's NXCAM range of professional camcorders

Sony has announced the launch of its new HXR-NX100 camcorder later this year. Combining great image quality, simple operation and a wide variety of recording formats in a device compatible with multiple options for a wide variety of professional applications, this new camcorder is designed from events to documentaries.

The HXR-NX100 features a 20-megapixel 1.0-type back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor. The sensor, similar in size to the Super 16mm video frame, offers high resolution, low noise and high image quality even in low-light environments, as well as greater control of depth of field, such as and as demanded by today's diverse recording needs.

It also has a fixed Sony G lens with 12x optical zoom, which extends from a 29mm angle of view at the wide end. In addition, it is expandable to 24x using the Clear Image zoom, which maintains full resolution thanks to its By Pixel Super Resolution technology. Additionally, zoom performance can be doubled anywhere up to 48x with a digital extender. These features, along with a built-in 4-stop ND filter, mean the HXR-NX100 is ready to capture quality content in any environment.

The HXR-NX100 features an ergonomic design to provide a lightweight, easy-to-use experience that ensures greater quality, reliability and peace of mind on any type of shoot. The three independent rings on the manual lens allow easy access to zoom, focus and iris functions. The camcorder also includes a wide variety of connectivity options, such as HDMI, multi/micro USB, HVL-LBPC video torch and UWP-D wireless microphone series.

The HXR-NX100 extends the recording flexibility of Sony's NXCAM range by being capable of recording in AVCHD, DV and XAVC S formats at 50 Mbps, providing numerous options and high-quality images. It also offers maximum operational flexibility, being able to record the generated content on affordable and easily available memory cards. The HXR-NX100 also includes two media slots, allowing for recording to two memory cards simultaneously or in relay, where recording automatically switches to the second memory card when the first is full.
