More than a hundred professionals from the audiovisual sector participate in the pitching 'I+P, Ideas to produce'
Organized by the Galician Audiovisual Cluster, producers from all over Spain participated in this pitching, seeking commercial agreements for their film and television projects in the Pitching 'Ideas to produce'.
This Thursday, the Abanca Auditorium in Santiago hosted the presentation of the 15 film and television projects participating in the 10th edition of the pitching R&P, Ideas to produce, organized by the Galician Audiovisual Cluster (CLAG), in search of possible commercial agreements for financing, co-production or distribution in front of around twenty audiovisual executives.
More than 80 audiovisual professionals from all over Spain participated in this project exhibition day, which represents an excellent opportunity for agents in the sector to open new business avenues and establish commercial contacts.
The tenth edition of this pitching was inaugurated by the president of CLAG, Andrés Barbé, who thanked the collaborators of this edition for their support of the format and reminded the attendees that in this edition the record of registered projects was broken, and by the director of the Axencia Galega das Industrias Culturais (Agadic), Jacobo Sutil, for whom carrying out the tenth installment of this meeting demonstrates the consolidation of an action that was pioneer in its foundation, in 2006, both for its format and for its organization from the sector itself.
“After all these years, we must also recognize his decisive role in facilitating co-production and distribution agreements for projects, with a result that can be measured in many titles that came from these meetings and that happily reached television and movie screens,” Sutil declared.
The head of AGADIC also referred to the R&P, Ideas to produce as a "successful format and encouraged Clag to continue promoting initiatives such as pitching and to continue energizing audiovisual. The head of Agadic also reiterated his department's support for a reference format for the sector, which represents an excellent opportunity to obtain financing and distribution for the selected projects.
For his part, the Minister of Economy, Employment and Industry, Francisco Conde, participated in the closing of the project presentation session, together with the president of Clag. Conde pointed out that the Galician audiovisual sector is at the forefront and can serve as an example to other industries in their commitment to innovation and technology as keys to the future.
The councilor also recalled that the Audiovisual Plan for this legislature is being prepared, focused on axes such as the financing of cultural industries; the role of TVG; audiovisual heritage; Galicia as a filming set and internationalization.
In this edition of the pitching, projects from Galicia, but also from Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia and the Basque Country have been presented. Regarding formats, seven feature films, two documentaries, five series and miniseries and one television documentary were presented.
The projects are in different phases of development and were chosen by a Selection Committee among the 52 works registered in this 2016 edition.
This forum promotes contact between content acquisition managers and producers seeking financing, marketing or distribution for their works. Thus, this afternoon more than 120 bilateral meetings are scheduled to be held at the NH Collection Hotel in Santiago in which producers and scriptwriters will have the opportunity to explain their projects in detail to try to obtain commercial commitments from buyers.
Prominent national audiovisual executives with decision-making capacity in the acquisition of content have participated, such as Fernando López Puig (TVE), Javier Palacio (Mediaset España), Yago Fandiño (Clan-TVE), Felipe Pontón (Movistar+), Pablo del Amo and Diego del Pozo (Atresmedia), Leticia Pérez (Canle #0), Fernando R. Madriñán, Montse Besada and Vanessa Grela (Televisión de Galicia); Francisco G. Orejas (Radiotelevisión del Principalidad de Asturias), David Nadal (IB3 TV Televisió Illes Balears) and Alfonso Martínez (R).
In the distributors section, Carlos Fernández (Filmax), Fernando Riera (A Contracorriente Films) and Clara Santolaria (DeAPlaneta) attended this pitching. With the aim of facilitating commercial contacts between those responsible for the projects with possible co-producers, Josep Cister and María Fernández (Boomerang TV), Joan Gual (Mod Media) and Carlos Carballo (Voz Audiovisual) are in this forum.
