Laura González Llamazares wins the I Scholarship ‘Woman Engineer’ established by Hispasat
Student of the last degree of aerospace engineering at the University of León, will benefit from an economic aid of 5,000 euros. The company wants to foster the presence of female talent in the areas of engineering in order to be able to have more women working in this sector.
Hispasat He has announced on Monday the name of the winner of the I Scholarship ‘Woman Engineer’. The call has attended ten candidates, of which eight were students of Aerospace Engineering and two of Telecommunications Engineering. The winner has been Laura González Llamazares, a student of the last degree of aerospace engineering at the University of León, which has a file with an average notable grade and a curriculum full of experiences and activities both in the academic field and in several innovation and technology projects in different groups and associations.
The jury, gathered on June 9, was formed by Eugenio Fontán, dean of the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers; Laura Barco, on behalf of Estefanía Matesanz, dean of the Official College of Aeronautical Engineers; and, by Hispasat, Antonio Abad, technical and operations director; Ignacio Sanchís, business director; Miguel Táuler, resource director and organization, and Cristina Perez Cantó, Director of Communication.
The jury has valued very positively the enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit of the candidate, her initiative and leadership capacity, her practice in project management, her interest in innovation, her international experience and her vocation for the space sector. For all these reasons, added to his good academic file, the jury has unanimously decided to grant the scholarship to Laura González Llamazares.
This scholarship has an economic endowment of 5,000 euros for an engineering student to carry out postgraduate studies in a mastering master of aeronautical or telecommunications engineering, in the spatial field. In an annual basis, it aims to promote the presence of female talent in the technological field and thus contribute both to the professional development of women in these studies and the increase in the number of women in the space sector.
