Sony expands its line of MVS series production tables with the new MVS-6000, which inherits many of the functions of the MVS-8000G model in a compact and efficient design.

Expandable with a total of 49 inputs and in configurations up to 2.5 ME, Sony's new MVS-6000 mixer offers internal format conversion, frame memory and internal DME options and can be purchased as SD equipment and then converted to multi-format at any time. The user can select configurations from the small fixed control panel, or the traditional fully customized MVS control panel if total flexibility is desired.
At the core of the MVS-6000 switcher is Sony's new “System on a Chip” image processor. This technology includes keyer and DME processing within the switch's CPU and offers multi-format conversion, multiple key channels, transitions and DME functions performed on a single chip. This efficiency offers processing with compact frame and high speed effect; In addition, its power consumption is reduced and its cost is reduced compared to the MVS-8000G model.

The size and features of the MVS-6000 make it the ideal companion to Sony's ELC automation software. The new software option, model ELC-MVS01, is designed for integration into standard definition and high definition newsroom control room systems and is also available for the existing MVS-8000A and MVS-8000G model lines.

The ELC designation stands for “Enhanced Live-production Control System,” because it adds efficiency to control room workflows while maintaining the creative flexibility broadcast professionals require. The system focuses on an easy-to-use user interface to control streaming devices such as robotic cameras, audio mixers, and MOS-controlled devices.

The ELC automation option integrates into existing newsroom IT systems, such as iNews or ENPS, with an ActiveX window, allowing producers to maintain their existing workflow and continue building their rundowns in a familiar interface. Through a simple drag and drop operation, it is possible to add pre-programmed command templates to the news reports. This generates a timeline in the ELC system that maintains real-time synchronization with the newsroom computer system, so that news can be transferred and reorganized comfortably. Full control of the switch is maintained at all times through the physical interfaces, so that the latest news can be entered without any problem.
