ESPN, NBC.com and DirectTv use Kalypso and Kayak for the great North American golf event.

As has become tradition, Grass Valley technology has been present for yet another year at the North American PGA Golf Open held at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, between June 18 and 21. This 109th edition has been produced by NBC in collaboration with ESPN for the production of the parallels of this great tournament. To do this, it hired the veteran production company Game Creek Video, based in Hudson, who used a Kalypso mixer and three Kayaks to cover the entire Golf Open. In support of ESPN SportCenter, Game Creek brought four of its most advanced high-definition mobile units to the tournament site, each equipped with a Grass Valley mixer. During the rest of the year these mixers are frequently used in NASCAR races and the NFL league for Fox Sports.

Thanks to the Kalypso mixer it has been possible to produce with up to ninety inputs and four effects channels, while the Kayaks each provide three M/E video processors.

The Kalypso and a Kayak were used jointly between ESPN's SportCenter and USOpen.com's web coverage. Another Kayak was used for space Players In Depth from DirecTv's US Open Mix channel, while the rest of Kayak were destined for the 17th Hole Channel as well as other US Open Mix spaces.
