Film director José Luis Cuerda sponsors the 1st edition of the National Short Film Contest Escenarios Amanece que no es short, a competition that pays tribute to his film Dawn, which is not little, which is now 20 years old.

amanececortoThe Board of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha organizes this award, to which short films with themes set in the locations of the Tourist Route “Amanece que no es poco” may be submitted, in the Sierra del Segura, Ayna, Liétor, Molinicos and Albacete capital. Cuerda, who recalled some of the anecdotes that surrounded the filming of that film in Albacete, presented this contest today at the headquarters of the Film Academy in Madrid, accompanied the vice president of this institution, Emilio Pina; from the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Crafts of Castilla-La Mancha, Soledad Herrero; and the members of the jury, the film director, Eduardo Chapero Jackson and the editor Nacho Ruiz Capillas.

Soledad Herrero has commented that this contest "is guided by the spirit of Don Quixote. It has risk and adventure. From a faith
Unbreakable, a possible dream has emerged. We want to discover the quixotes and the dulcineas who are going to present projects. With this contest we want to celebrate 20 years later the film Amanece, which is not little." The director from Albacete spoke
also about the land, which was a discovery for him despite having been born there; Among his memories, that of some elderly people whom he heard commenting that Russians were going to enter “and that”, or a countryman who was going with his rifle “to shoot those in the cinema”. In addition to Cuerda, Ruiz Capillas will be on the Jury, who commented that this award pays tribute to “a historical film of ours”; and Chapero Jackson, who recalled that he saw the film for the first time on television 12 years ago and became “hooked with the rural metaphysics” proposed by Cuerda. The rest of the jury members are Antonio Resines, Pastora Vega and Bebe. The two most original and creative scripts will be awarded with their complete production by the regional government. In addition, one of them will receive the extraordinary prize that consists of promotion and participation for an entire year in the circuit of competitions, festivals and awards for national and international short films. Participants will have until August 20 to present their projects, which will be evaluated
by a specialized jury.

The only requirement requested of applicants is that the script be based on the locations where the film was recorded: Ayna, Molinicos, Liétor, as well as Albacete capital. The creation of the Cinematographic Route 'Amanece, que no es poco', gives the tourist and the lover of this work the possibility of visiting the real locations and settings where it was filmed.
