The DVS video server, Venice, will support the AVC-Intra 50/100 codec, streamlining the ingestion and management of material from Panasonic camcorders.

DVS VeniceDVS will present the latest developments in its video server with the introduction of a line of products specially adapted for the broadcast market. Venice will now support data capture directly from Panasonic cameras, recorders and P2 cards. It will also offer support for Panasonic AVC-Intra 50/100, the technology based on H.264 compression that offers twice the compression efficiency of MPEG-2. AVC-Intra provides high-quality 10-bit intra-frame encoding in two modes: AVC-Intra 100 at 1920 × 1080 (vs 1440 × 1080) and AVC-Intra 50 Mbps for DVCPRO HD.

Venice also supports a wide range of the most common compression formats. With AVC-Intra 50 and 100 support, Venice will provide fast capture and easy management of material from Panasonic cameras, thus gaining flexibility.

Furthermore, the DVS server supports MXF so the files stored on it can easily be integrated into different workflows and production environments. Thanks to its open and flexible systems and the integration of third-party know-how into DVS products, users benefit from added value
