Does Shake disappear?
Coinciding with the appearance of the updated Time Capsule models, Apple may have decided to discontinue its Shake compositing and effects package… or at least, that's what you assume when visiting the Apple Store where the product link leads directly to Final Cut Studio.
The popular Shake composition and effects package could have passed away due to the information that runs through the halls of Apple and the evidence that the product has suddenly disappeared from the Apple Store. However, we can still find product information on Apple's website, although not in its online store.
Since its launch, Apple had lowered its price on several occasions, going from 3,000 euros to 479 euros for the latest version 4.1. Later integrated into Final Cut Studio, Shake could perform sophisticated 3D compositing, keying, image tracking, and stabilization for the price of a plug-in. This solution has been used in productions such as Mission Impossible 3, Poseidon or Pirates of the Caribbean. Launched directly from Final Cut Pro's timecode pipeline, Shake uses the most advanced optical image flow analysis to precisely resynchronize, adjust, and stabilize shots.
