PRISA TV launches its new Internet television service with Envivio encoders

QinMedia supplies and launches the operator's new “Over The Top” header, which marks a milestone in the career of advanced television services in Spain. The technology adopted for this header has been Apple's HTTP adaptive streaming.

PRISA TV is leading the group of operators that are paving the way by making their Premium content available to their customers directly in multiple formats and through alternative channels. To do this, it has had the real-time and on-demand coding platform of the Californian manufacturer Envivio through the company QinMedia, which was responsible for supply, commissioning and support.

The encoding platform is extremely flexible and is based on the Envivio 4Caster C42 encoder. This encoder allows multiple software configurations in terms of input signals (SDI Video or IP) and video output profiles. PRISA TV also has two versions available: real-time encoding and file-based offline encoding for On Demand video. The topology and design of the project guarantee the future growth of services and/or the necessary reconfiguration of them in response to future user demand.

It should be noted that the term “Over The Top” (OTT) not only refers to access from the PC through the Internet to all this content but also extends it to all types of devices such as consoles, “tablets” and “smart phones”.
