Presentation of ON Mexico

The Spanish satellite operator Hispasat, and the telecommunications services and content distribution company, Dish, have joined forces to offer in Mexico, through ON Internet, a new high-quality satellite broadband service, focused on the residential and corporate markets, in order to expand Internet access to large areas of the country.

This was announced this Thursday by both companies to the media at an informative breakfast that was held in Mexico City, in which its CEO participated on behalf of Dish México, José Luis Woodhouse; the director of the Internet Division, Lorenzo Orozco, and the director of Wireless Internet and Marketing ON, Santiago Ennis. Hispasat has been represented by the Business Director, Ignacio Sanchis.

The joint objective of both companies is to facilitate Mexicans' access to quality Internet service, thus contributing to reducing the digital divide and promoting the development of connectivity in Mexico.

Connectivity today is essential for economic and social development in any community, and satellite, thanks to its wide coverage, high capacity and rapid deployment, constitutes the best technological solution to bring Internet access to places where terrestrial networks do not reach. Dish México and Hispasat have announced today their alliance to provide a solution that extends Internet coverage in the Mexican territory through an accessible and simple deployment.

Santiago Ennis, director of Wireless Internet and Marketing ON, has pointed out that "this agreement with Hispasat allows Dish México, through ON Satelital, to expand its commercial Internet offer throughout the national territory, offering the possibility of digitally connecting, via satellite, to various segments of the population in remote and restricted access places, thus helping many people and companies to benefit through this service."

For his part, Ignacio Sanchís, Business Director of Hispasat, has stated that "It is a pride for Hispasat to collaborate with Dish to bring Internet to those places in Mexico where there is no Internet connection, or one of very poor quality. For us, this function performed by the satellite is very important, which puts the most advanced technology at the service of people to open the doors of the digital world to Mexicans, thus allowing them to benefit from the opportunities offered by the Information Society. In this task we do not "We could imagine a better partner than Dish, a company of great prestige and with a deep presence throughout the territory."

To offer this service, Hispasat will use the high performance satellite capacity (or HTS, for its acronym in English) Amazonas 5, which has been operational since last year and has seven coverage spots over Mexico in Ka band. The use of this frequency band, together with the possibility of concentrating satellite power over smaller areas and reusing frequencies that HTS technology allows, represents a direct increase in the information that can be transmitted, achieving higher speeds at lower connection prices.

Hispasat and Dish have selected the Gilat's SkyEdge II-c satellite broadband platform, a world leader in satellite network technology, solutions and services. It is a highly efficient multi-service platform that allows us to offer a wide variety of solutions for small terminals, capable of providing high-quality affordable broadband for multiple market segments.

Thanks to this agreement, Dish will market satellite services through its ON Internet offer, both for the residential market and for those aimed at small and medium-sized companies and even large ones, offering different Internet access packages with speeds ranging from 2.5 Mbps to 20 Mbps for residential users, and that they reach 30 Mbps in the case of companies. In this way, prices can be better adjusted to the needs of each user.

ON offers new benefits for residential users, such as unlimited web browsing; In addition, users will have 8 hours during the night in which they will be able to carry out activities such as downloading video files or streaming services without reducing their quota and without a limit on data use in said period.
In the case of the business service, high speed is offered and they also have 8 hours of free use at night, with no data quota limit.
Towards reducing the digital divide

In many places in Mexico it is still not possible to enjoy the advantages that the digital world offers for economic and social development. Satellite broadband technology is the ideal technological solution to bring Internet access to those areas that lack other telecommunications infrastructure, greatly reducing the existing digital divide.
