Snell presents 24 new products from its IQ range
Compatible with emerging 3Gbps standards, as well as analog, SD and HD signals, these new components are intelligent, flexible and centralized.
To help televisions make a smooth transition to high definition and a 3 Gbps environment, Snell today launched a total of 24 new modular products in its IQ range at IBC'09. In addition to 3Gbps/HD/SD support, the components announced today feature advanced solution features for fiber optic conversion and Dolby E/D processing.
David Creed, director of engineering at Snell, highlighted during the presentation that as the industry continues to evolve, the expansion of this modular range allows television broadcasters to easily integrate components to better take advantage of 3Gbps in high bandwidth applications, fiber optic links, long signal transport and Dolby technologies.
The IQ modular components introduced today include a new processing platform designed to handle all audio and video processing tasks. Multiple products and variants within this platform allow broadcasters to combine cost and space savings into single modules based on complete solutions with the specific functionality required. These modular IQ components offer flexible connectivity through numerous interface options thus supporting effortless growth and allowing easy expansion of an infrastructure.
New modular IQ components aimed at 3Gbps/HD/SD operation include a range of advanced multifunction synchronizers for analog signals and integration and insertion AES for advanced processing applications; distribution amplifiers, and numerous fiber optic transmitters, as well as various receivers and transceivers. To address the demands of working with compressed audio, Snell has also expanded the modular IQ range with multi-function audio embedding and de-embedding and the addition of advanced Dolby E/D modules.
