Snell will attend NAB 2013 with answers to new challenges like 4K

Kahuna 360 will now be able to accept 4K UHDTV signal ingests and combine them with 1080p and then output them as 4K UHDTV or 1080p, at no additional cost.

Snell prepares for the dawn of the era of 4K operations with the Kahuna 360 multi-format switcher. With its exclusive FormatFusion3 technology that supports a combination of SD, HD, 1080p and now 4K, the Kahuna 360 provides unmatched creative capacity and flexibility. Now the Kahuna 360 can accept incoming 4K UHDTV ingests and combine them with 1080p and then output them as 4K UHDTV or 1080p, at no additional cost, helping broadcast and media facilities easily adopt new workflows as opportunities arise.

With versions ranging from 2 M/E to 4 M/E, the Kahuna Flare offers four keyers per M/E and two channels of 3D DVE, all in a single 6-RU rack. The system comes standard with 48 inputs and 24 outputs, with the option to upgrade to 60 inputs and 32 outputs. Snell's unique FormatFusion3 technology provides Kahuna Flare users with extraordinary versatility to work with multiple signal formats, allowing them to combine SD, HD and 1080p inputs and outputs simultaneously just as needed to meet any distribution need.

Channel-in-a-box

The new ICE features, which Snell will showcase at NAB 2013, further increase the cost benefits achieved with channel-in-a-box by allowing, depending on channel configuration, up to four HD channels per unit. Additionally, with the focus now on incorporating more pipeline parts into the box, Snell's ICE now includes powerful integrated 3D and 2D graphics, CG functionality with editing control over the timeline, and the ability to populate fields from Morpheus automation program events or from external data sources.

To complement the ICE's HD and SD simulcast capabilities, it also includes a delay service, which provides the ability to record a channel's output for delayed retransmission services. The ICE also boasts enhanced audio processing and Panoply multi-site, multi-system redundancy to deliver a channel-in-a-box platform with unparalleled functionality, usability and reliability.

On the other hand, Snell has incorporated new user interfaces that make it even easier to use Morpheus, allowing a single operator to monitor the highest number of broadcast channels. Morpheus v3.0 includes virtual machine support to enable operations in the cloud and in private data centers, thus facilitating less space use and less power requirement, while improving system resilience.

Asset management and routing

Momentum representa un gran avance en la gestión de activos de media de flujos de trabajo automatizados y planificación de recursos. Con el altamente intuitivo interfaz gráfico de usuario (GUI) de Momentum, los usuarios pueden editar y controlar sus flujos de trabajo sobre pedido. Momentum proporciona control máximo y flexibilidad a los operadores de broadcast, permitiéndoles reducir los costes de operación al distribuir los recursos de forma mas eficaz y haciendo que el contenido este más accesible. Momentum se puede desplegar con hardware autónomo sobre maquinas virtuales en la nube o en centros privados de datos.

At NAB 2013, Snell will also launch its Luna series of 1-RU router control panels, including four LED models and two LCD models. The LED panels include a high-density version with 78 buttons, 72 of which can be configured as source or destination keys for more flexibility. LCD panels include a rotary coding control for easy paging. The new Luna Series models are compatible with current Snell routers and include a very shallow mounting frame, less than two inches (50 mm) that can be powered from an external +12V DC source or using Power over Ethernet (POE).

Intelligent monitoring

At NAB 2013, we will be able to attend the first demonstrations of Hyperion 3 Gbps monitoring technology. This solution is designed to cover all advanced monitoring needs in a multi-format system environment. Hyperion thus aims to help operators monitor content more effectively, while ensuring that all contractual and legal obligations are met.
