The PM1D has been one of the most popular consoles in the industry over the last decade. Now, Yamaha has announced that in a few months it will stop manufacturing it, although it has assured that it will maintain component support and technical maintenance.

Nick Cook, European marketing director of Yamaha Commercial Audio, stated that “with around 800 systems sold around the world, we want to assure all our customers that we will maintain high technical support for the currently installed PM1D fleet for years to come.”

Introduced to the market in 1999, the PM1D revolutionized highly complex live mixing both in television studios dedicated to musicals, as well as in concerts and theaters. There are many manufacturers that throughout these years have been forced to introduce some of the improvements that this now legendary console provided. Now, Yamaha has focused on the next generation of digital solutions with new mixers, routers, and DSPs interoperable with all existing audio and networking formats today.
